How we use your data if you are one of our customers
The personal information we collect from you may be shared with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies, including Equifax, TransUnion and Cifas, for the purposes of verifying your identity, assessing credit risk, preventing fraud, and tracing debtors.
These agencies may keep a record of the information you provide to us and the fact that a search was made. They may also disclose this information, and details of any searches, to their other customers for the same purposes – namely, to verify identity, assess the risk of providing credit, prevent fraud, and trace debtors.
If fraud is detected, you could be refused certain services, finance, or employment. Further details about how your information will be used by these agencies, and your data protection rights, can be found in the following notices:
Credit Reference Agency Information Notice (CRAIN) – Equifax and TransUnion.
Cifas Fair Processing Notice (FPN).
How we use your data if you are one of our customers’ end-users
The personal information we collect from you may be shared with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies, including Equifax and Cifas, for the purposes of verifying your identity, assessing credit risk, preventing fraud, and tracing debtors. Where you have instructed us to do so, we may also conduct searches with Equifax to obtain historic car finance data held about you, for the purpose of assessing and pursuing any motor finance redress claim you may have.
These agencies may keep a record of the information you provide to us and the fact that a search was made. They may also disclose this information, and details of any searches, to their other customers for the same purposes – namely, to verify identity, assess the risk of providing credit, prevent fraud, and trace debtors.
Where we conduct searches using both individual and bulk methods in relation to the same consumer, more than one soft search footprint may appear on your credit file as a result. Soft search footprints are only visible to you and to Equifax, and do not affect your credit score or your ability to obtain credit.
We may also receive information from Equifax indicating whether you have been the subject of equivalent searches conducted by other Equifax car finance customers within the previous twelve months. We use this information solely to protect you from inadvertently engaging more than one claims management company or law firm in relation to the same matter, which could result in duplicate fees being charged to you. This information is not used for any other purpose and is not shared beyond what is necessary for this protection.
