The Start of Checkboard

James Owusu started Checkboard whilst working in financial services. Why? He lost £56,000 on a transaction that took 7 months.

October 2019

Pilot

We initiated app development and conducted a pilot with landlords, estate agents, mortgage brokers, and solicitors.

February 2020

Funds Raised

After 14 months of piloting, we raised a pre-seed round of £400,000 backed by SFC Capital, Cornerstone and Angel Investors.

April 2021

Checkboard Launch

Checkboard was launched. Serving buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants at the beginning of their property transactions.

September 2021

FCA Authorisation

We officially got our licence from the Financial Conduct Authority.

April 2022
