Checkboard is becoming Kord: Here’s what that means for you
Over the past several years, we’ve grown alongside our clients. Today, we support more use cases, more markets, and more ways to verify individuals, perform due diligence, confirm credit history, and move money with confidence.
But as our service has evolved, it became clear that both our brand and our pricing model needed to evolve with it.
Today, we’re excited to share three important updates:
Checkboard is becoming Kord. Kord will be the trusted platform for onboarding, payments, and compliance.
However, Checkboard will remain the name of our consumer-facing app for end-user identity verification.
We’re introducing a new tier-based pricing model, designed for flexibility and transparency.
These changes reflect our ongoing evolution as a firm, making it easier for us to serve clients and end-users alike, and helping you to scale and grow without worrying about unpredictable costs.
Checkboard is becoming Kord
Kord is the new name for Checkboard. It reflects what we do best: like a cord, we connect data points into a single, reliable source of trust.
As our services have expanded beyond individual checks into a broad verification and servicing ecosystem, the Checkboard name no longer tells the full story of our relationship with our clients and partners.
While our name and visual identity are changing, what isn’t changing is our commitment to:
Reliable, compliant data
Clear documentation and tooling
A partnership-first approach with our customers
Checkboard will be the name of our end-user-facing app. It will remain the trusted name in identity verification for consumers, guiding them through the process with the same workflows and help systems.
So, for your end-users using the Checkboard app, nothing will change.
You’ll start to see the Kord brand roll out across our website, documentation, communications, and product experience over the coming months. The Checkboard website will reorientate towards consumers.
A simpler, more flexible pricing model
Alongside our rebranding, we’re introducing a new pricing model built around flexibility and transparency. It is designed to reflect the way our clients and partners actually use our system, based on a recurring concern raised as they increase their usage:
“We love the flexibility of the platform, but we want more predictability around costs.”
To address this, we have redesigned pricing around tiers.
How do tiers work?
Instead of pricing each flow in isolation, we’ve standardised all of our services into tokens. This means you can mix and match exactly which checks and data sources you use, based on your needs rather than on rigid bundles.
Each tier gives you:
Access to all supported services
A set number of tokens per month
The freedom to distribute those tokens however you choose
You can change how you use Kord on a monthly basis. Your tier gives you flexibility to use the platform exactly how you need to without forcing you to renegotiate contracts or forecast every use case in advance.
What happens if you go over your points allocation?
We know real-world usage isn’t always predictable. If you exceed your monthly token allocation:
Your service will continue uninterrupted
Any additional usage is simply charged the following month
Your service won’t be blocked, and you won’t be forced to renegotiate your contract
This approach lets your teams move quickly, while still keeping financial control.
What does this mean for existing customers?
If you’re already a Checkboard customer, we’ll guide you through this transition carefully.
Personalised communication
Every existing customer will receive a personalised email explaining:
How your current usage maps to the new tier structure
What (if anything) changes for you
Who to contact if you’d like to review or adjust your tier
Clear, itemised usage
Alongside your invoice, you’ll now receive itemised usage details, so you can:
See exactly which tokens were used
Track monthly trends
Better forecast future usage
See how much each onboarding check or flow cost
What’s coming next?
This is just the start. In the coming months, we’ll be rolling out new functions to the client dashboard, including:
Real-time usage visibility
Clear breakdowns by service and token
Improved reporting to help teams optimise how they use Kord
These new features are designed to give you full transparency over your , without adding any additional overhead.
The move to Kord and our new tier-based pricing model are both driven by the same principle: flexibility without friction.
We’re excited about what this unlocks for our customers, and we’re grateful to everyone who’s helped shape this next chapter.
If you have questions about the transition, pricing tiers, or what’s coming next, your account team is always happy to help.
Welcome to Kord.
